CABINETS

The CABINETS view allows you to see a list of your company owned or vXchnge provided cabinets. Some of the columns of information available in this area include:

Data Center – The facility in which your cabinets reside

  • Cabinet Identifier – The vXchnge unique identifier given to each cabinet
  • Cabinet identifiers appear in the following format:

Site : Floor : Room :: POD, Cage, or Row : Cabinet ID (“CAB_” + X + Y floorplan grid location)

For example:

TX01:F01:DH0002:R01:CAB_AK59 is read as TX01 - Austin, 1st floor, data hall 2, Row 1, Cabinet AK59

  • Customer Tag – Custom cabinet names that can be defined by you.
  • kW - Near real-time total power (kw) utilization of all circuits within the cabinets.
  • New kW readings are available every 5 minutes.
  • Clicking the power readings opens the Power Usage page for further investigation of circuit usage if needed.
  • Create New – Provides a quick and easy way to submit support tickets related to a cabinet

CROSS CONNECTS

The CROSS CONNECTS view allows you to see a list of all your cross connects, and also allows those with authorization to order new cross connects.

How to place an order for a new cross connect:

  1. Click Order Cross-Connect in the upper right next to the cart.
  2. Select the data center.
  3. Select the type of cross connect you would like to order:
    • Cab-to-Cab - A cross connect that will originate and terminate between two of your cabinets.
      1. Select the Media Type (Copper Ethernet or Fiber)
        1. If Fiber is selected, select the Fiber Type (Single Mode Fiber or Multi-Mode Fiber)
      2. Select the A-Location cabinet and connector type.
      3. Enable the 'Leave Coiled' option or enter the full demark information.
      4. Select the Z-Location cabinet and connector type.
      5. Enable the 'Leave Coiled' option or specify the full demark information.
      6. Enter any additional notes if needed and then click Save.
    • Connect to Provider - A cross connect that originates from one of your cabinets and terminates at a service provider/carrier cabinet.
      1. Select the Media Type (Copper Ethernet or Fiber)
        1. If Fiber is selected, select the Fiber Type (Single Mode Fiber or Multi-Mode Fiber)
      2. Select the A-Location cabinet and connector type.
      3. Enable the 'Leave Coiled' option or specify the full demark information.
      4. Select the Service Provider.
      5. If you know what the connector type should be on the service provider end of the cross connect, select it from the Connector field. This information can usually be found in the LOA that the carrier provides.
      6. If you have the LOA and full demark information, you may enter it into the RU, Port(s), and Circuit ID fields.
      7. If you have the LOA from the service provider, attach it by clicking the Upload LOA button.
        NOTE: vXchnge will not make the final connection to the service provider without an LOA. If you do not have the LOA when you place the order, the Technical Point of contact specified in the order will be contacted to receive it.
      8. Enter any additional notes if needed and then click Save.
  4. Once you are viewing the Cart page:
    • First, make sure the name of the correct technical point of contact is selected at the top.
    • You may select a Requested Installation Date if you'd like, or the vXchnge standard SLA will apply depending on the types of cross connects being ordered.
      • If you need to expedite the order, enable the Expedite Installation box and then selected the Requested Installation Date. Please be advised that expediting an order will incur an additional fee.
    • If you are ready to begin checkout, click the Begin Checkout button.
      1. Review the order to make sure it has the correct information regarding the type of cross connect(s) being ordered.
      2. When you are ready to place the order, click Submit Order.
      3. Read the terms associated with ordering the new cross connect(s) and then click Agree.
    • If you would like to add another cross connect, click the Add Cross-Connect button and repeat the above steps.
    • If you need to edit an existing cross connect, click the Edit link next to it and make any necessary changes.
    • If you would like to delete a cross connect from the cart, click the Delete link next to it.

POWER CIRCUITS

The POWER CIRCUITS view allows you to see a list of all your power circuits. Columns available include:

  • Power Circuit Identifier – The vXchnge unique identifier given to each power circuit
  • Cabinet Assignment – The name of the cabinet where the power circuit is installed
  • Volts – The voltage of the circuit
  • kW - Near real-time total power (kw) utilization of each circuit
  • Amps – Near real-time amperage readings for each circuit
    • New kW readings are available every 5 minutes
  • Clicking the power readings opens the Power Usage page for further investigation of circuit usage if needed
  • Usable Amps – The name of the service provider
  • Usable kW (i.e. Fiber or Copper a.k.a. Ethernet)
  • Customer Tag – Custom names that can be defined by you
  • Create New – Provides a quick and easy way to submit support tickets related to a power circuit

IP BANDWIDTH SERVICES

The IP BANDWIDTH SERVICES view allows you to see a list of all your IP bandwidth services. Columns available include:

  • Company Name
  • Data Center
  • Name – vXchnge’s unique identifier for the IP service
  • Legacy ID
  • IP Block(s)
  • Commit Mbps
  • Peak Mbps
  • Interface(s)
  • Cross Connect(s)
  • Customer Tag – Allows you to enter your own identifier for the service
